This project saw us styling a classic Queenslander, leaning into a relaxed British colonial influence - think natural textures, rich tones, and a calm, grounded palette that sits comfortably within the home’s traditional framework.
The family lounge features a grain leather sofa in a warm tan, paired with a green wool rug and a rattan coffee table chest that doubles as storage. A rattan entertainment unit continues the natural texture story. The palette of blues and greens runs gently throughout, creating cohesion without feeling matchy. Though the family lounge and dining area sit side by side, each zone is anchored by its own rug - a soft green in the lounge and a classic sisal under the parquetry dining table. The dining chairs are rattan, tying in with the pieces in the lounge and echoing the home’s breezy, indoor-outdoor feel.
French doors open onto the deck, encouraging easy flow from the dining space outside - perfect for the Queensland climate and this family’s lifestyle.
The formal lounge takes on a slightly more traditional tone, with rich, dark timber pieces and a blue-and-white colour palette that nods to colonial styling. It’s a quieter, more refined space - still warm and welcoming, but with a little more structure and depth.
In the primary bedroom, we continued the use of natural textures with a rattan headboard, layered against a deep blue rug that adds instant warmth and richness underfoot. Accent cushions in blue and green tie this space back to the palette used throughout the home, while also introducing a softness and freshness to the room.
This home is all about relaxed living with layered detail and a sense of timeless ease.
