We love a bathroom with colour, pattern, beautiful materials and a little personality. From committing to one colour, mixing tile finishes and laying tiles in a feature pattern, to making the lighting decorative and treating the powder room like a little jewel box, these are a few of the things we come back to when designing bathrooms.

BE BRAVE WITH ONE COLOUR AND REALLY COMMIT TO IT

Colour drenching works particularly well in bathrooms. Rather than using a colour as an accent, let it travel across the walls, ceiling, cabinetry and even the smaller details. When you really commit to one colour, it can feel much more sophisticated than trying to introduce lots of different ones.

MIX YOUR TILE FINISHES

Gloss, matte, handmade, patterned, textured. We love mixing tile finishes because it gives a bathroom another layer of interest. The key is letting the colours relate to one another, so the different finishes feel intentional rather than busy.

MAKE THE LIGHTING DECORATIVE

Bathroom lighting doesn't have to be purely functional. A beautiful pendant or wall light can completely change the feeling of the room. We love using lighting as another opportunity to bring in shape, material and a little personality.

DON'T BE AFRAID OF A STRONG COLOUR

A bathroom can handle colour. In fact, it is often the room where you can have a little more fun with it. A deep green, rich blue or warm terracotta can become the starting point for the entire space. You don't always need to soften a strong colour with lots of neutrals either. Sometimes the best approach is to just go for it.

TREAT THE POWDER ROOM LIKE A PROPER ROOM

Just because it is small and practical doesn't mean it should be treated as an afterthought. This is the room where we say go for the wallpaper, the beautiful mirror, the decorative lighting, a strong colour or even laying a simple tile in a feature pattern. A powder room is a little jewel box, so have some fun with it.
